Chelsea skipper Terry: Man Utd can't handle Drogba
Chelsea captain John Terry is convinced Didier Drogba will prove too much for Manchester United's defence today.
Terry revealed that he loved the way Drogba reacted to their Champions League semi defeat to Barcelona last season – and warned title rivals Manchester United that the in-form striker is desperate to shoot them down today.
Terry said: “Didier loves this club and when we lose a game there is no one more disappointed than him.
“He shows his anger and his frustration. People look at when he lost his rag after the game against Barcelona – it’s because he cares about this club.
“From a Chelsea point of view, I love the way Didier reacted there.
“I’m sure if you are a Chelsea fan, sitting at home watching that, maybe it is not good to see. But at the same time he cares about Chelsea, the people in it and the people running it. That is what they want.
“People were quick to criticise him but for me, you see him in the dressing room and in training and you see him motivating the players, and motivating himself – he really cares. And for the people in charge to see that and reward him with a new contract was great – and I think he is paying them back.
“He is certainly proving his worth now and Manchester United will have their work cut out to contain him in the form he’s in. He’s on fire.
“Since pre-season I stressed how important Didier was to this football club.
“He does an awful lot for the team as well as score goals. He holds the ball and brings it down, and his build-up play is second to none. He is one of the best and most difficult strikers to play against in the world.
“It made me laugh when some people were saying that Didier was on his way out of this club. That was never going to happen. Chelsea fans and players and people around the club never doubted Didier.
“And I don’t know a player who is more desperate to go out and beat United.”
