Wigan face battle convincing Sporting Gijon fullback Canella

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez faces a battle convincing Sporting Gijon fullback Roberto Canella to make the move to the DW.

Martinez is chasing the Spain U21 international ahead of the January market, having already made an attempt to land the youngster in August.

However, Canella says he's now ready to sit down and discuss new terms with Sporting.

"I'll be very pleased if I can close the renewal of my contract," said Canella. "I want to reach an agreement to be in Gijon for as long as possible."
