Wolves captain Henry: Iwelumo return crucial for us
Wolves skipper Karl Henry admits he's delighted to see Chris Iwelumo fit and firing.
Iwelumo made his first start of the season against Stoke City after recovering from a broken metatarsal suffered in the opening pre-season game against Perth Glory.
“I look at John Carew at Villa and Chris Iwelumo’s definitely our Carew, so I’m delighted to see Chris back,” said Henry of the 31-year-old to the Birmingham Mail.
“I’ve been looking forward to Chris coming back – he can definitely have an impact at this level. He’s not been able to wait, it’s the first time in the Premier League for him.
“He did so well last season and scored plenty of goals and I think he sees this as something he’s missing out on – this was his purple patch last season. He wants to keep his place in the team and get among the goals.
“He and Stefan are similar players but Chris is really effective when he plays.”
