West Brom’s Zuiverloon hoping for more improvement
West Brom defender Gianni Zuiverloon hopes the team can build on their 5-0 demolition of Watford on the weekend and break away from the rest of the pack.
The Baggies went to the top of the Championship table with the win although Newcastle regained that position with their victory over Sheffield United on Monday night and Zuiverloon wants to create a gap between West Brom and the teams below them in the coming weeks.
“We want to go up this season,” Zuiverloon told the Birmingham Mail.
“We have to make a big gap as soon as possible.
“To do that we need to win the next few games to open up a gap, pull away from other teams and put some distance between us and the rest.”
It was the Baggies’ second 5-0 win of the season after they defeated Middlesbrough in September but after that match their form dropped which Zuiverloon hopes does not happen again.
“We need to make sure we don’t lose the momentum,” he continued. “The last time, after Middlesbrough, we did something wrong so we need to make sure we keep our heads right, enjoy it for a few days but stay focused.”
