Adelaide’s Cornthwaite released from bail obligations

Adelaide United defender Robert Cornthwaite has had his bail obligations cancelled because of his high public profile.

The 24-year old has had his conditions revoked stemming from charges arising from an incident involving a bouncer in August.

Cornthwaite was allegedly involved in a fight with a bouncer at Limbo nightclub in Adelaide’s west end but he has now had his bail situation changed.

"I think that would be wrong by law," Senior Sergeant Faehrmann said in regards to stopping Cornthwaite from travelling interstate with the Reds squad.

"I don't think there is a risk of him reoffending, he is well-known and subject to public scrutiny."

Magistrate Joanne Tracey agreed, and revoked Cornthwaite's bail and he was then ordered to appear in court again in December.

If found guilty of assault, Cornthwaite faces a possible maximum two-year jail term.
