Koblenz’s Yelldell keen on USA call-up
Goalkeeper David Yelldell is hoping his form with German 2.Bundesliga club Koblenz can reach a level where he is considered for the USA national team.
The 28-year old German-American shot-stopper has been impressive since arriving at the Stadion Oberwerth in the summer of 2008 and is now eyeing a place in Bob Bradley’s World Cup squad for the 2010 finals in South Africa.
"It would be great for me, but first I know I have to play good in Koblenz," Yelldell told Soccer365 in a thick German accent. "I have been paying attention to the U.S. National Team.
“I think my chances to play for the U.S. National Team, being here in the second division in Germany, are not so bad.
"I'm not sure how I can get the attention, but my first goal is to do well for my team, to get points," he added.
"I think the German second division is very strong, compared to other leagues. The competition is very high, so I want to do good every week. That's my first goal.”
