Arsenal’s van Persie keen for Adebayor revenge
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is keen to play in the club’s Carling Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester City.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger usually uses the Carling Cup for the squad’s young players but van Persie is eyeing the clash as a good chance to get back at former teammate Emmanuel Adebayor, who stomped on his face when the club’s met earlier this season.
“It’s a nice draw. I want to play in that one. I’d love to play. If the boss decides to let me play, I’m happy,” van Persie said.
“We fancy winning it as well. It will be a good game because they have a good side and I think it’s a good challenge for the youngsters.”
van Persie added that he believes the ‘young Gunners’ are capable of defeating City if they play anything close to what they did against Liverpool last week.
“If we can find the right mix like we did last time against Liverpool and play like that they have a big chance of winning because they showed some quality there, he added.”
