Roma boss Ranieri pleas to fans after protests

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has pleaded with fans to start supporting them.

The Giallorossi have lost three Serie A games on the trot and the players were again the subject of protests from fans at training on Friday.

“Instead of throwing bombs, the fans should stay close to us in such a difficult moment for Roma,” slammed Ranieri.

“I don’t ask them to applaud us necessarily, but give us a hand to feel better. We need to be encouraged and as an angry fan that is what I would do.

“If it’s true that we are a family, then that means staying close to those in need and lending a hand. This is all I ask of the fans. If you love Roma and are exasperated, imagine how we feel right now. We want to do better.”

Ranieri is a lifelong Giallorossi supporter and fulfilled his dream of taking over the club this season, so he puts himself in their shoes.

“I’d go to the stadium to see the game with Bologna. I’d be angry, but I would go in order to be close to my team. I expect Bologna to sit back and play mainly in their own half. Initially they push forward, but then clam up once the opposition attacks.

“They will be quick at getting back and ready to make the most of our distractions. This is why I want to see a Roma side that is focused and ice-cold. Glacier cold.”
