Strachan looking for enjoyable stint with Middlesbrough
New Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan is hoping his time with the Championship club is as enjoyable as what he experienced in Scotland with Celtic.
Strachan signed a four-year deal with Boro on Monday, taking over from Gareth Southgate who was sacked last week and now the 52-year old is aiming for success at the Riverside Stadium.
"I don't need to be here and I don't have to be here. I'm here because I want to be here,” the former Coventry City and Southampton boss said.
"When I left Celtic I told everyone close to me that it would be very difficult for me to retrace my steps in terms of the excitement there.
"I felt I had to do something different. I have a chance of something different here.
"I feel I can make the people I work with better and, if I can do that, we have a chance. It's an exciting division to come into.
"I know you get time here, and the stability of the club means you have the chance to develop things the way you'd like to see them develop.
"Celtic was fantastic, and I hope it can be as enjoyable here."
