Wigan Athletic have joined the scramble for Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.
The Daily Mail says manager Roberto Martinez sent scouts to check him out on Saturday, but they face competition from Sunderland and Everton.
Everton boss David Moyes made a personal check on Johnson as he prepares to launch a January bid for the Middlesbrough winger.
The 22-year-old is out-of-contract next summer but will be able to sign a pre-contract deal with any club from January.
