We need more heart at Toronto FC – De Rosario

Dwayne De Rosario says he wants to see a little more heart at Toronto FC after the club failed to qualify for this season’s MLS play-offs.

De Rosario led the way for the Reds, scoring a club-record 11 goals which also matched his career-high and was adamant that there is distinct lack of heart within the club.

"I want to see a little more heart on this team," said De Rosario, who for the first time in his nine-year MLS career is not going to the playoffs.

"If you train hard every day ... your mind is 100 per cent focused, chances are things are going to fall your way. And I just don't think we have that."

Rookie Sam Cronin echoed De Rosario’s sentiments, saying the culture at Toronto FC has to change if the club is to be successful.

"We need to change the culture here and make it a winning, passionate group next season," he said. "And I think it starts with the mentality and the psychology of the team.

"Making the playoffs is a 30-game stretch and you've got to be consistent and we haven't done that."
