Mata opens new contract talks with Valencia

Valencia winger Juan Mata has opened new contract talks with the club.

Mata has attracted interest from Barcelona and Inter Milan in the summer after an outstanding 12 months at the Mestalla.

After several approaches, Valencia president Manuel Llorente finally agreed to meet with Mata's father and agent last Wednesday to discuss new terms.

Llorente is willing to offer an improved deal to Mata, but within the club's current budget.
