Everton boss Moyes: Distin, Yobo helping us forget Lescott
Everton boss David Moyes is delighted with the central defensive pairing of Joseph Yobo and Sylvain Distin.
After selling Joleon Lescott to Manchester City and losing Phil Jagielka to injury, Moyes admitted he had concerns this season.
He said: "It wasn't just Joleon I thought we'd miss, it was Phil as well because they were our two centre-backs for most of last season.
"Distin and Yobo are a brand new partnership in the centre of our defence. Would I have expected them to click straight away? Probably not.
"But hopefully the more they play together, the more understanding they'll get and they will get better still."
While Lescott has looked shaky at times down the road at Eastlands, Distin has needed no time at all to find his feet on Merseyside.
He added: "Sylvain has settled in very well and he would admit he has found it quite easy to join in with us.
"He was the ]one who I hoped, when he arrived, would come in and settle without it being too big an upheaval."
