Clichy wants young Gunners to prove Wenger was right
Arsenal defender Gael Clichy wants the youngsters to prove that boss Arsene Wenger's faith in youth can end with silverware.
"The first thing is he wants to prove to people that he can achieve things with the players he brought in and with the team we have," Clichy said to BBC Sport.
"For a few years people have been saying that Arsenal are too young, the quality is there but we have to wait and I think the first one to really want something is him."
Clichy continued: "He’s been spending time and hours for the club and the last five years we haven’t won anything so maybe it has been really difficult for him and I’m sure 100 per cent that he is still committed and he will want to win something.
"On the pitch we try to give back the confidence he shows in us because he’s just amazing the way he believes in his team, in his squad.
"Whether you are 16 or 24, 25 or 30 years old, he’s behind you and telling you the right things so for a manager like this, you want to play for him and try to win things so I hope this year will be a good one," concluded the 24-year-old.
