Pierpaolo Marino says he leaves Napoli as sporting director bearing no grudge against president Aurelio de Laurentiis.
Marino said: “I have shaken hands with De Laurentiis. It's right that he is now more present [in the day-to-day running of the club].”
Marino revealed that he has waived any compensation, saying: “There hasn't been any transaction. I have renounced a five-year contract. I made the error of closing myself off a little too much.
“I leave with my conscience in place. I am proud of what I have achieved. I leave having satisfied De Laurentiis's requests of balancing the budget and delivering a UEFA Cup place,” Marino concluded.
