Chivas USA’s Suarez back in touch
Chivas USA defender Claudio Suarez has had a positive impact for his club since returning from injury just over two weeks ago.
The 40-year old veteran spent close to three months on the sidelines with a calf strain but has returned to action and is now regaining his touch.
"It was hard at first because I wasn't quite up to speed with the team," said Suárez of his return.
"But recently I am feeling much better. It's important that I'm able to participate as we head toward the toughest part of the season."
Despite only being used as a sub in the past few matches, the all-time games record holder for Mexico is just happy to be back playing.
"I've only entered as a substitute," he said. "But I'm happy to do whatever is asked of me. Even when am only asked to play a couple of minutes, I enter with the right attitude of wanting to do anything I can for the team. I think Preki sees that."
Although admitting he is at the wrong end of his career, Suarez is confident he can continue playing at the highest level while his hunger is still there.
I'm really happy that I still have that confidence from the coaches," added Suárez.
"I think that I have a lot of experience to give. I've been a champion, I've played for the national team, and I've learned important things about the sport. I continue to have that hunger to win and to compete, and I think it shows."
