Platt to join Eriksson at Notts County

Sven Goran Eriksson is ready to replace Ian McParland as Notts County manager.

The Sunday Express says the League Two club, whose summer takeover is the subject of a Football League inquiry, believe that Eriksson (right) must take direct control of the team if they are to increase their chances of promotion in May.

Eriksson, who had been ready to back McParland, has been told by the County hierarchy to bring in a high-profile coach to assist the Swede. It’s believed that contact has been made with former England star David
Platt, who forged a close relationship with Eriksson at Sampdoria, and with the former West Ham and Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder.
