Well, I dont think Murphy has anything to do with whether or not our team
is short of quality of Arsenal of yesteryears. As a talking point however, its
debatable. I dont however suspect he says this to put us down coz we are
facing them. This is in stark contrast to his Gaffer who was in papers
praising Hangeland who spurned our club's attempts to sign him saying
"its amazing that he refused Arsenal" knowing he would get better pay
and CL football.

Poor effort at putting down a team you wont even qualify to play in!You mention other players but you never tell about a certain Danny Murphy?!Perhaps he is also unknown quantity?
Finally, does this sound like a hint of jealousy/bad blood here--that those 'kids' get to play in a top Four Club which is better than whatever you have ever played or will ever, seeing you are going downhill while they still have at least eight to ten years of top flight football! Not to mention that you will never come close to playing in a top four side...!
This same team without any great name went from losing to your Fulham last season to still end up qualifying for CL, semifinal of the FA, quarterfinal of the CL and yet they only average age 22/23.And there you are though you beat us still you ended up way behind us on the final table.
Though no great names, but members of this same team(Fabregas) are the current European champions, the former EUFA Cup winners(Arshavin), contributed the highest number of players of any team in Europe to the national teams at the 2006 World Cup, have never finished lower than fourth in the last five seasons,etc.
