Andrea della Valle has resigned as president of Fiorentina.
The 48-year-old revealed his decision through a conference call to the board this morning and will be temporarily replaced by Mario Cognini.
Della Valle is said to have been very upset by protests held by the club's fans criticising his conduct in the transfer market.
He needs to spend more time reorganising Tod's, the family business, which produces shoes and other leather goods.
