Spanish club Cadiz attempted to lure Adu

Spanish outfit Cadiz CF were on the trail of young American Freddy Adu prior to the close of the recent transfer window.

The 20-year old stayed in Portugal, moving from Benfica to Belenenses on loan, but Cadiz have confirmed they were interested in his services.

A report in AndaluciaInformacion.es suggested the Spanish second division club were trying to come to terms with Adu as they were in the market for a midfielder but complications arose in regards to terms.

It is believed they are monitoring his progress in Portugal with the option of potentially offering him a contract down the track.
