Tevez nets first Man City goal in Carling Cup win
Summer signing Carlos Tevez scored his first goal for Manchester City in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Thursday night.
The Argentine scored with a header from a corner in the 71st minute after Shaun Wright-Phillips netted five minutes after the break to give City the lead.
Mark Hughes started with a full-strength City team including recent signing Joleon Lescott in defence, marking his intent to bring some silverware to Eastlands after a 33-year drought.
He was buoyant after the match, mainly due to the partnership beginning to blossom between Tevez and former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
"I was hoping that by playing Carlos that it would be an opportunity for him to get off the mark and was delighted that he did so,” Hughes said.
"Carlos is a quality player with great intelligence. He makes the right runs time and time again.
"He is working very nicely with Emmanuel Adebayor."
