Central Coast Mariners feel the wrath of FFA
Submitted by Andrew Slevison on Tue, 08/11/2009 - 21:42
Central Coast Mariners have become the third club to be charged by Football Federation Australia this season.
Following the charges laid against Gold Coast United and Brisbane Roar, the Mariners have been charged with misconduct after receiving six yellow cards in their 2-0 win over Melbourne Victory on the opening night.
Coach Lawrie McKinna felt his club were treated harshly and unfairly.
"Two of the cards were for not retreating the 10 metres after a free kick," McKinna said.
"There was hardly a harsh tackle in the game. There was certainly no malice, no crunching tackles.
"It was played in good spirit and it was hard fought."
