Liverpool's Xabi set for Real Madrid medical today
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Wed, 08/05/2009 - 07:23
Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso will have his Real Madrid medical today ahead of signing terms.
With his fee now agreed, Xabi will put pen to paper on a five-year contract worth £4 million-a-season.
There won't be any glamour presentation for the midfielder, however, with his unveiling scheduled for August 24 and to be held alongside fellow new signings Alvaro Arbeloa, Esteban Granero, Ezequiel Garay and Alvaro Negredo.
Real president Florentino Perez is delighted with Xabi's arrival as it fulfils his promise to fans of bringing more Spain stars to the club. There are now five of Vicente del Bosque's current squad on Real's books: Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Raul Albiol, Arbeloa and Alonso.
