Aston Villa defender Carlo Cuellar hopes his Peace Cup form has caught the eye of Spain coach Vicente del Bosque.
Cuellar told the Sunday Mercury: “It’s important for my family and my friends because they had a chance to come and see me and it’s important because the coach for the national team can see me.
“I’m not sure if he’s been coming to the games but because it is being shown in Spain he can watch it on TV.
“It’s very important that I play good and the team starts to win the games because it’s a good signal for the international manager to say ‘Carlos is playing well, he can step up to the level for Spain’.
“It has always been my dream because I have the possibility to play for my country if I do well enough for my club.”
