A move to Napoli appears unlikely for Liverpool fullback Andrea Dossena.

“We have not heard from the Napoli directors in over 10 days, so logically when there is no contact for such a long time, the negotiations are to be considered terminated,” said Federico Pastorello.

The full-back had made it clear he was eager to complete a move to the San Paolo, but Liverpool wanted around double the £3.5m proposed.

“When you want a player, you take certain steps that in this case were not performed. I think it might’ve been a technical and tactical decision, as they either have another transfer target or opted not to bring in anyone for that left flank.”
