Aston Villa’s Friedel blames LA Galaxy for Beckham slurs
Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes the LA Galaxy have to take some of the blame for crowd slurs against David Beckham.
The former US international believes the Galaxy should not have let Beckham go out on loan to AC Milan and that fans should respect the player much more.
“It didn’t help the situation that he was allowed to go out on loan to Milan,” said Friedel.
“That put a feeling in some supporters’ minds because results did not go particularly well.
“He needed a break to go on his holiday with his family after playing for England.
“I blame it on the organization for letting him go to Milan.
“The reaction was amazing. Did you see all those banners against Beckham?” he added.
“He has worked his backside off to get where he is. He has played among the best players in the world.
“He has been a fantastic ambassador for football not only in the UK but all over the world.
“The Galaxy fans will have their own opinions. They just want their team to win.
“I just feel sorry that they are blaming it all on Beckham. He’s not the one to point the finger at.
“He didn’t decide how much money he was going to be on.
“The people that did that are the ones that created the monster.”
