Sunderland must up their bid to land Tottenham striker Darren Bent.
The Mirror says Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has made a club record £12million bid for Bent - but Tottenham are holding out for £16m.
Bruce tabled a new offer for the England striker yesterday and wants a quick answer as he starts his serious planning for the new season.
Spurs supremo Daniel Levy is keen to get his money back on Bent, who arrived from Charlton two years ago for £16.5m.
