Donovan ready to return for LA Galaxy

U.S. national team star Landon Donovan is ready to return to LA Galaxy training.

The 27-year old returned home earlier this week after a month away with the U.S. team culminating in the Confederations Cup final and is excited about getting back to contributing for his team.

"My body feels pretty good," Donovan said.

"I'm probably fitter maybe than I've ever been from all the running. It's nice having a few days off, but this is what I do.

“I want to be able to contribute Saturday, and I think the team is excited to have me back and I'm excited to be back and I'm excited to play here again."

Despite going down to Brazil 3-2 in the Confederations Cup final, Donovan said he was proud of the team.

"What happens is in any game you play winning obviously is the most important thing," he said.

"After that you look at how you played and how you performed, individually and as a team. I think from that standpoint I'm happy with how we did. We just ran into a better team that day.

"It's not like I'm going to hang my head for three weeks now because we didn't win. I'm proud of how we did, but the next time we get in that situation hopefully we learned from that and can win that game."
