Arsenal boss Wenger ponders cashing in on Gallas

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is weighing up cashing in on defender William Gallas.

Gallas is a target for Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan, though the Frenchman played down their interest yesterday.

The Guardian says the former Chelsea defender's current deal runs until June 2010 and while he has retained the support of Wenger, the manager may decide to seek a fee for the player now rather than risk losing him for nothing in a year.

Gallas had provoked interest from Paris St-Germain, Marseille and Lyon during the midwinter window and while French clubs would still be keen to get him home, he intends to spend at least one more season at a club he believes are capable of challenging for European honours, whether that be Arsenal or not.
