Newcastle expect Barton for preseason opening day

Newcastle United coach Chris Hughton says Joey Barton will attend the first day of preseason training today.

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle: “Everyone apart from the five international players will be back, including Joey.

“I’ve not spoken to him, but he'll be back for pre-season tomorrow, and we’ll take things from there.”
