Villa keeper Guzan concentrating first on Confederations Cup final
Aston Villa stopper Brad Guzan is concentrating on the Confederations Cup final with the USA, before returning to Villa Park and a battle for the number one jersey.
The 24-year-old still remains number two at Villa being behind compatriot Brad Friedel.
Speaking to the Express and Star, Guzan said, "I think everyone sees the level that Brad’s at and it’s not just a year here and a year there, it’s consistent year in year out.
"I would like to think I’m getting close to that level. Obviously, I’m working hard on the training ground and hopefully getting better and instilling the confidence in the coaching staff and my team-mates that they can count on me.
"If I’m doing that, then things are going in the right direction. I think with any position in any team, you wait for your chance and when you get your chance, you hopefully take it and you run with it and that’s what you have to do.
"You never know when it’s going to come because Brad could get hurt a month into the season or whenever.
"He was sent off against Liverpool, so you never know what’s going to happen - football’s a crazy game."
