All he needs to do is get his current club to rip up his current contract then he can go overseas and the FFA can't do shit.
thats why players shun the national team...keep treating players this way and they will represent other nations!!
The FFA should be ashamed of themselves , what a great oppotunity for the young lad . What we should all realise is this is not just about Reece , it is about all our kids boy or girl . If you are given what must be a life changing experience to travel and train in these academies and to further your development the FFA can say NO .
What an absolute disgrace !!
As a player that actually trialled with Villa in the late 70's I can feel nothing but sorrow for this kid who has the opportunity of a lifetime. Fancy a bunch of nobody pen pushers forcing this obviously talented player to stay here when he has the chance to further his career by playing in the best leagues with the best players the world game has to offer.
What idiot wrote the line " there is less and less reasons for a player to go overseas at a young age" . This tripe might actually be true if you did not want to go further and actually make something of a career out of the talent one has.
If Ben Buckley and his cohorts at FFA are truly interested in developing the youth then this decision needs to be reversed. What a prime opportunity for some vigurous flag waving when they can stand up and say " look at the talent our Aussie leagues can produce' - instead all that will happen is that any promising junior will either move overseas so they are not obstructed by this ruling or they will not continue their career as there will be little opportunity to make a living out of the game.
FFA hang your heads in shame !
Where's Brendan Schwab in all this? Dum unions trying to keep high-flyers down. Yeah we all want to play for the A-League clubs. Stuff Aston Villa and the Premier League. Lets play for the Mariners with Billy No-name.
Fair enough.
Why? WHY? Because people like Murray and Foster are always going on about youth dvelopment, youth pathways, etc, etc. They dont care about kids like Reece just about massaging their own ego.
If FFA let Reece leave then the muppets at SBS would be wailing. Reece doesn't need to be taught to kick the ball straight. He needs to be allowed to take this one in a lifetime opportunity.
Dude, why blame SBS?
I can't believe this. You have the choice, join one of the most famous clubs in the world or Sydney FC. Who would you choose? Australian soccer is just joke.
Work for Martin O'Neill or some ex-NSL nobody? Who would you choose?
Play against the best 16yo's in the world or against a bunch Aussies who will end up being shelf stackers in a couple of years. Who would you choose?
Congratulations FFA, PFA, SBS you're officially killing Australian soccer.
"there's less and less reasons for a player to go overseas at a young age"
What about joining Aston Villa, Ben???? Who would you rather have joined as a 16 year-old? Pissant Broadmeadows AFL or North Melbourne???
This is a disgrace. Your killing the boy's dream just to please the SBS-types of this world.
