A-League player movements – Wellington Phoenix
The New Zealand club have been relatively quiet in the arrivals section in the off season but have had to withstand some departures.
Although that is not ideal, the commitment of some of the club’s key players has been significant with many re-signing with the club.
Tim Brown, Manny Muscat, Mark Paston, Tony Lochhead, Michael Ferrante, Ben Sigmund and fan favourite Daniel have all signed new deals with the Phoenix.
The loss of A-League Player of the Year and leading goal scorer Shane Smeltz to Gold Coast United leaves a gaping hole in attack so the club will have to act to provide a suitable replacement before season 2009/10 kicks off.
Arrivals: Chris Greenacre (Tranmere Rovers - 2 years), Diego Walsh (Adelaide United, 2 years).
Departures: Vaughan Coveny (retired), Karl Dodd (released), Greg Draper (released), Richard Johnson (retired), Glen Moss (Melbourne Victory), Shane Smeltz (Gold Coast United).
