Arsenal boss Wenger in new swipe at debt-heavy rivals
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has taken another swipe at their debt-laden rivals.
Wenger said: “We do not have as much experience as when we reached the final in 2006 but I believe we still have a good chance.
“We made a conscious decision to go for more youth when the club decided to build a new stadium because we were no longer in a position where we could spend £30m or £40m on new players.
“We have a policy of developing young players and we have to stick with it. Walcott, Denilson, Song and Bendtner are different animals to what they were in August and to put four or five new players ahead of them now would kill all the work we have done.
“Now we are in a situation where we have a good side, we make a profit and we pay off our debts.
“People in the modern world are scandalised when the banks lose money. Well, I’m scandalised when football clubs lose money.”
