Fergie was the main reason for The Mariners success in first 3 seasons of HAL. Huge loss to CCM and great gain for Fury.
Hey Chris, the fans want to call the game "football" not "soccer" as you keep calling it. How about getting with the times mate and do the game a favour. Refer to it by it's proper and official name pleasse.
iam actually very delighted for all u've put in so that u keep us updated that is something that really deserves some credit your articles are also great thank you so much
I sort of agreed but I'm 51 years old played as a junior in the Sutherland Shire Sydney. I've played the game from 1967 till 2005, followed Sutho sharks and every other weekend followed St. George Budepest, which had my hero who I modelled my game on Johnny Warren I've also played in Wollongong and Melbourne premier leagues etc. etc.
Started coaching at the age of 13 to help out my younger brothers team and started full time coaching at 17, by aged 17 I was captain coaching an under 18 side and then under 21 at age 19 side with Nth caringbah Redbacks with guys like Ian Rowden to name one good player who Johnny Warren names in his book. (good player Ian as was many other guys who didn't get their names in lights) Dinga who represented Aus. as another, we won NSW ameteur cup (anyway enough of my back ground)
I take my hat off to Frank Lowy who wanted to create this A league type football 20 something years ago, but to no avail. I had put up with all sorts of taunts as a kid because I played sissy ball, ***** ball etc. but I always knew that one day we would break down the wall the other codes have always feared. Thanks to Johnny, Les and to a lesser extent the doyen (what ever that means) but the guys like our pioneers deserve respect right or wrong. So lets hear everyones opinion and take the good from the bad and appreciate where we are at NOW and keep moving forward. No more putting football down, however with constructive criticism we can only keep going forwards.
I now live in Cairns and my son and I would like to know how we can become members of Nth Qld Fury and more important how can we contribute to the team and what, if any thing, is on offer for us to be able to see games and support NQFC. Has anyone thought about Cairns FANS travelling south to get to games and or other areas?
We are excited about the spread of the A League to Nth Qld but please consider us in the support of the whole process as I know there is many of us up here (FANS) in Cairns who would like to get on board. Maybe cheap bus? airfares? train? Please don't LEAVE US OUT?????
Cheers
Phil (Belly) Bell
I agree with most of what you say but how can you criticise Fossie and Les - an icon and a doyen? They're the greatest double act since, Abbot and Costello, Flanders and Allen, Laurel and Hardy, Morcambe and Wise, Harold and Albert Steptoe, Romulus and Remus, Cheech and Chong, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore ...
