Wigan boss Bruce keen to add younger signings

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce admits he's keen to add more younger players to his squad.

Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post: "I was pleased with the business I did last month.

"Some of the sales I didn't want to happen, but the offers we got were excellent. We're different now. I think the squad is maybe a bit better, certainly stronger, and time will tell if we are.

"The four lads who came in are a good age. Charles N'Zogbia is only 22, Hugo Rodallega and Ben Watson both 23, while Mido is 25.

"I really enjoy working with younger players, it's good for the future of the club with the direction we want to go in. If I can bring younger players in, I will do.

"Sometimes it's a case of telling them to come here, work hard, and see if they are the next player who attracts offers of £10m, £12m or £14m.

"Look at the rise of Lee Cattermole since coming here. He's been magnificent for us and is still only 20.

"I'm hoping the other young players I've brought in can rise to a similar level of performance every week."
