Aston Villa defender Davies explains low-key goal celebration
Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies has explained his low-key goal celebration after scoring against West Brom on Saturday.
He told AVTV: "I never expected to score because I have missed so many sitters this season. It's just the law of averages I suppose.
"I headed home a difficult chance but I have had about three land on my forehead this season and I've put them all wide. Unfortunately for West Brom, I scored against them.
"People will make a big deal about the fact it is my old club but I'm more interested in the fact that I have opened my account for the season.
"I chose to show West Brom respect. I have a lot of time for the club, I have friends there and I was captain for a period.
"I enjoyed my time at the Hawthorns and I have no hard feeling towards the club - even though a lot of fans have hard feelings towards me.
"I wasn't prepared to let myself down by trying to upset the fans even more by running off celebrating like a maniac. That's why it was quite timid."
