Villa's Davies ready for West Brom boos
Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies expects to be booed during tomorrow's derby against former club West Brom.
Davies said: “West Brom bought me for £3m, I left for a lot more and I felt in the two years I was there I gave good service.
“I wasn’t one of those who went there, took my money, got a Bosman and left them high and dry.
“When I came to the club I said there were other people trying to leave but it didn’t work out for them so, because I was the last one to leave on transfer deadline day, it looks like I’ve deserted them.”
Since Davies left, Zoltan Gera, Kevin Phillips and Martin Albrechtsen have all gone on frees.
But the central defender is still braced for some stick in what will be Birmingham’s only derby rivalry this season.
Davies, 23, added: “I will get stick. They gave me stick in the last pre-season game before I left.
“But by the end of that game they were trying to clap me, so I’m not really bothered. If anything, I buzz off it.
“As much as they booed me I’m not here to pump it up. I’m playing against my mates and I’m not bitter towards the majority of those who booed me. I know it’s a club that served me well.”
