ChrisM is completely right mate, Chelsea signed Ramieres for defensive midfield duties and never even looked like signing anyone else similar, and Man U they signed Bebe instantly when they thought Real.M, Porto, etc were sniffing around. The point I am making is they were rumours and both Clubs 9 times out of 10 get the people they are actually after.

Chris I suggest getting a clue? you've proven yourself to know spout off about things you know nothing of. As other have stated Chelsea and Man Utd were keen on him prior to Liverpool signing him and was close to Portugals best player of the World Cup, though if that's a crappy signing i hope they make plenty more.

u are delusional, he was ment to sign for chelsea, man utd also wanted him... are they not decent clubs? clerley u dont understand football. and the clowns arguing about the premier league bein a "joke" ure a moron. Portugese league stronger? LOL, i think its a decent signing by liverpool, considering the price nd the potential that was shown in the world cup.

What a complete load of crap Hansen, I can understand you wanting to 'pump up the tyres' of your old team but come on, the guy has as much ability as my three year old son!!! He is what he is, a very ordinary defensive midfielder that Liverpool have picked up on the back of no other decent team even sniffing around, let alone putting an offer in for. It's your right (indeed profession) to make comments on such matters, but please....let's keep it real. Were Liverpool not basically bankrupt they would not have recruited him, needs must when the Devil drives but a Pig in a frock with lipstick is STILL a Pig!!!!

I can remember when Alonso joined Liverpool as player of the year in a stronger league than Portugal thats Spain and he was no overnight success.
Therefore i think patience will be the key i wont be feeling let down until after January as i think it may take him a while to find his feet maybe even a season.
