Van der Vaart is 1 of the most overrated players in the world.

Perez wants to offload certain players, Mourinho wanted to keep VdV. It's the same as last season when Sneijder and Robben had to go (which Pellegrini was really pissed off about afterwards). It's not that they are not good enough it's just they bought and introduced new players so the old have to go. Still very risky since you can't be certain either Khedira or Ozil will fit in the squad, VdD was one of the 2 best players previous season.
