Nkufo has ability to bring others into the game – Seattle Sounders’ Schmid
Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid has heaped praise on new recruit Blaise Nkufo.
Schmid believes the Switzerland international has the ability to bring other players into the game with his ability in the forward third to be able to hold up the ball and said he had been a key factor in the Sounders run of four wins from their past five outings.
"It's certainly helped us. His ability to occupy a defender, to be strong on the ball, to hold the ball up, to bring the other players into the game - the midfielder and forwards - are very important,” Schmid told the Seattle Times after the 2-0 win over Houston Dynamo.
“It's something that (Nate) Jaqua gave us last year, early in the year, and he was injured obviously this year. It's a pairing with him and Montero that from a standpoint of their strengths is a much more complimentary pairing than we were able to play with earlier this season. And as a result of that, each guy is able to play to their strengths and it complements the other."
