Nine-man Rangers win Cup Final
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 03/21/2010 - 17:35
St Mirren failed to make their numerical advantage count to lose 1-0 in a dramatic Co-operative Insurance Cup final against Rangers at Hampden.
Kenny Miller's late header gave nine-man Rangers the victory with seven minutes remaining.
Ibrox midfielder Kevin Thomson was deservedly sent off in the 53rd minute for a lunging tackle on St Mirren namesake Steven Thomson.
Teenage defender Danny Wilson was also sent off for a professional foul, leaving the Govan side two men short for the last 20 minutes.
But with seven minutes remaining, Rangers broke away for Miller to head substitute Steven Naismith's cross past Paul Gallacher and complete the first part of a possible treble for Walter Smith's men.
