West Bromwich Albion No2 Eddie Newton has urged fans to treat Bolton Wanderers fullback Paul Robinson well upon his return tomorrow.

Newton, who briefly crossed paths with the left-back in their time at The Hawthorns, hopes the Albion fans will give him a good reception.

"I think he served the club really well," Roberto Di Matteo's No2 told the WBA website. "The fans have to be mindful of that.

"When we came it was a time when he'd been up and down with the club. He believed he wanted to play Premier League football.

"At the end of the day, if a player's not fully committed to the club, you have to let that player go.

"It was maybe time for him to go because he had come to the end of an era. The fans should respect, as we did, that he served the club really well."
