Newcastle coach Beardsley full of praise for Campbell

Newcastle United reserves coach Peter Beardsley was pleased with Sol Campbell's performance in their 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

Campbell slotted in alongside young Geordie defender Matt Grieve for the second string.

Beardsley told the Evening Chronicle: “Sol is a top pro, there's no doubt about it.

“You know your own body and I know what he's going through.

“He'll be ready when he's ready, but he looked quite comfortable and confident. The main thing is he brings a great presence to our young team.”
