Newcastle United are chasing Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara.
The Daily Star says Toon want to make O'Hara, currently on-loan at Portsmouth, their first summer signing as they prepare to return to the Premiership.
Though O’Hara signed a new four-year contract at Spurs last august, a bid of around £3m will land him.
Toon chief Derek Llambias said: “Hopefully, we are going up, but we are not going to put the club into financial meltdown by buying one or two big names. Huge transfer fees are a thing of the past for us.”
