Newcastle boss Hughton had to convince Ashley about Campbell gamble

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton had to persuade club owner Mike Ashley to shell out for Sol Campbell.

The Daily Mal says Hughton had to persuade owner Ashley to gamble on former Arsenal defender Campbell, rather than sign a younger player.

"You know it’s shorter term but it fits your need," he said.
