Newcastle boss Hughton confident of more signings after Campbell

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton expects more signings to arrive following their capture of Sol Campbell.

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton expects more signings to arrive following their capture of Sol Campbell.

He played down renewed talk of a move for St Etienne defender Yohan Benalouane and does not expect United to sign Marseille midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa.

He told the Evening Chronicle: “With Sol coming in, the focus is unlikely to be on a central defender now.

“There’s nothing in Benalouane. Ben Arfa is a name that has come up more than anybody recently. It’s a name we know but it’s unlikely.”

United will also not pursue Chelsea’s Dutch left-back Patrick van Aanholt, according to Hughton.

He said: “He did really well for us last season but we’re not looking into that one.”
