New York Red Bull skipper Angel: Celades must stay
New York Red Bull captain Juan Pablo Angel is keen to see midfielder Albert Celades secured for next season.
The former Real Madrid and Barcelona playmaker is weighing up his options and could return to Europe.
“He is an unbelievable quality player. He makes players around him a lot better, his passing ability, his talent is incredible,’’ Angel told the New York Post. “That’s why we want him to stay healthy because he makes a difference for us.
“You don’t find that many players that grow up with the Barcelona mentality who basically see things that are very difficult to see on the field, who see the big picture. Normally you have players who see the first pass or the second one.
“For this guy, it’s pretty easy to look around and clean up the play for us, and that was noticeable on the weekend on Friday when he came on everything just started to move more fluid. That’s why I think he is very important for our formation and the way we want to play. At the end of the day quality is a great commodity.’’
