New Liverpool chief Comolli questions if Spurs can keep Bale
New Liverpool football director Damien Comolli believes Tottenham will struggle to keep hold of Gareth Bale.
Comolli, who scouted Bale as a 17-year-old before Spurs signed him for £5m, suggested Tottenham face a battle to hold on to him.
Comolli said: "When I watched him for the first time I was gobsmacked. He was already showing the strength, the technical ability, the confidence to take people on, the pace, the quality left foot, the work-rate. He had it all.
"I remember coming back from scouting him and thinking 'I've seen the new Paolo Maldini'.
"Spurs are desperate to hold on to Gareth but I know last summer there were big, big clubs sniffing around. If they are ambitious and want to do well in the future they have to keep hold of him and Champions League football should help them do that."

to be fair if you read his comments it doesn't appear that he is suggesting Spurs can't keep hold of Bale. he actually says that if we want to be succesful we need to keep him and Champions league should help us do that. Before everyone launches into a rant at Comolli ( irrespective of his past ) perhaps we should be looking at the twat that is taking the comments out of context and posting it under a contentious headline on purpose - the same as the idiots running headlines saying Man City favourites to buy Bale - then when you read the articles it merely suggests that the bookies have them as favourites IF he leaves - and that's just the bookies odds based on their spending power.
Commoli should be more worried about keeping hold of Torres & Gerrard. Dumbass you were sacked, get over it.
wouldnt compare him with maldini, bale is more of a goal scorer and should be compared with wingers rather than defenders
