Manchester United have agreed to compensate Barnsley for the £10,000 worth of damage caused by their supporters to Oakwell last week, but Gary Neville feels the situation has been blown out of proportion.

United fans pelted stewards with missiles and also reportedly looted catering facilities, causing eight Barnsley employees to lock themselves behind a door for their own safety during the League Cup clash.

But Neville, who was shown red during the game, believes that the incident was blown out of proportion.

"The supposed crowd trouble at Barnsley was something out of nothing," he told The Sun.

"United fans got boisterous. They do. But anything that happens with us gets blown out of proportion."
